Carol Atkinson-Palombo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography at the University of Connecticut who has trained to engage in collaborative research to address complex, socially-relevant questions at the human-environment interface. Her work is motivated by the numerous calls that have been made for scholars to work across traditional disciplinary boundaries to tackle complex real-world problems. Her training includes a five-year National Science Foundation IGERT Fellowship in Urban Ecology at Arizona State University (2002-2007), which is complemented by over a decade working in international finance and development.
