Keynote: 10:30 to 11:30 am, Dr. Barbara Jacoby, University of Maryland, “Service Learning as an Economic Driver: A Spacemaker for Entrepreneurialism and Economic Development”

There is significant work being done across the state and the University to encourage entrepreneurship and innovation. On Tuesday, April 4th, Barbara Jacoby, a prominent figure in the service learning field will come to discuss how service learning can lead to entrepreneurship and economic development for the state of CT. Service Learning is one reliable way to accomplish these means; Dr. Jacoby will unpack how the role of Higher Education and Service Learning role can be instrumental to the increase of vitality to our towns and urban centers.

Afternoon Session: 1:00 to 2:30, Barbara Jacoby will connect and moderate a panel discussion with local business owners and non-profits on the intersection between Service Learning, Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development. We will also learn about student initiatives and will have time for brainstorming and planning at the end of the session.
